Sheba Choudhury, PSBL Director

Welcome Emma!

My name is Emma Triggs, joined the team at PSBL beginning of August as the new Community Development Officer.
I bring wide ranging experience of working in the voluntary sector across London in areas that include health awareness, communications, social media, project and programme management and most importantly community development.

I look forward to working together to make positive changes.

Supporting a local resident…

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to progress from volunteering to becoming an apprentice and now a Community Development Worker.
I’ve grown tremendously along the way, and with each step I’ve taken toward becoming confident in community development work.
I’ve learned new skills and gained valuable knowledge. Whilst being in post I’ve been planning services, building community networks, and engaged in multiple outreach work to learn what local residents need.
I’m really looking forward to connecting further with residents and local organisations in working together to forge a stronger community.

New City School 125 Year Anniversary
It was a wonderful event where residents joined the celebration of New City’s 125th anniversary, as did the mayor of Newham, Rokshana Fiaz.
Stalls with delicious food, games to play and prizes to win,
something for all!

Everyone had a terrific time talking to each other and having amazing conversations.
PSBL were delighted to support a local school in our area by part funding this wonderful event.
Summer Camp!

Dance your way to this amazing opportunity this summer holidays.
PSBL are exited to be supporting Creative Minds Performace Academy by part funding this project in collaboration with Memorial Community Church to bring Encanto to life!
with dance, performance and theatre sessions for young children aged 4 and above.

Drop in sessions

Our July’s digital session held at the Plus Centre in Memorial Community Church where local residents attended the digital champion’s training session for basic digital help and learn new skills on how to start up; we were thrilled with the turn out and to have received so many positive feedback.

Desmond was impressed with the accessibility, and by the time he left he felt super confident
I feel confident enough to attend future sessions and looking forward to it.”.
Cliff was able to create his own log in account and said
“I feel like I can make this work for me, this is going to be helpful.”

What a success these digital sessions have turned out to be!

We want to keep the momentum going and help more residents to also benefit from this exciting and wonderful opportunity so we’re holding another session on
Thursday 11th July at 11-12.30pm at
Plus Centre – Memorial Community Church
395 Barking Road. E13 8AL.

If you want to get involved or would like any further information please contact malaka xxxx , email malaka@psbl.org.uk or just turn up.

A wonderful farewell party for Ros!

With the sun shinning, with sweet treats and tea as we bid farewell to Ros at the Greenway Orchard joined by many including Green gym Volunteers, staff, steering group members and local residents who joined in.

A Lasting Legacy of Newham’s story
The present mural needs to be removed because it is in a bad state of repair, unable to be re-varnished and upkept during Covid.
If not replaced the community will loose such a wonderful art space.
We were excited to be given the opportunity to present our project to Community Assembly recently.

Hopeful that this project will be a lasting legacy for
Newham where we capture the story of the
pandemic as a historical community memoir of this moment in time.

We will use the experience and stories captured from community groups to create a replacement large public community artwork that is by local people,
for them and about them.

Best wishes to all those who also applied as every single project is an amazing one!
